Executive Editor-AGD

Details: The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) seeks a talented executive editor to work with the managing editors in executing the editorial and strategic visions of the association’s magazines and other print and e-communications.Ideal candidates should have a strong interest in the target audience, 10-plus years of publishing experience, and extensive managerial experience. The executive editor will work closely with the managing editors and other editorial staff to guide all stages of planning and execution of all print and e-content delivered to the AGD’s 38,000 members. This individual must have the ability to manage and motivate the staff and develop key talent. Candidates should have the ability to conceive, edit, and package story concepts and content is multiple platforms in a fast-paced environment with enthusiasm.Essential Job Functions With the Director, Communications continually evolves the AGD’s print and digital products. Ensures the highest standards of journalism and editing among editorial staff and freelancers. Works with art and editorial staff, ensuring creative, audience-friendly execution of all content. Coaches other staff in packaging, reporting, and writing as deemed relevant. Develops new talent, including freelance writers, sources, bloggers, and other contributors. Oversees budgets. Fosters a creative, innovative culture focused on the AGD member. Acts as a liaison to association leaders and board members. Represents the AGD and its publications at meetings and conferences.
